Development and application of new technologies and methods for MALDI/ESI mass spectrometry imaging (MSI):

  • Developing novel MALDI matrices to enhance the efficiency of MALDI tissue imaging for endogenous biomolecules (e.g., small metabolites, lipids, energy metabolism products, nucleotides, amino acids, peptides, and proteins).

  • Researching new technologies for qualitative/quantitative MSI of tissue-specific protein post-translational modifications.

  • Coupling novel MSI techniques with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for applications in screening bioactive compounds from medicinal plants, monitoring drug dynamics, elucidating therapeutic mechanisms, and identifying biomarkers for chronic diseases and early diagnosis.

  • Conducting spatial proteomics/metabolomics/lipidomics studies based on medicinal and edible plants.
